Peter Piper says:

What’s my opinion of the keto diet? FANTASTIC! I lost over 80 pounds WITHOUT calorie count and without any exercise at all. After finding out how good fat and cholesterol are for you (despite what retards in the medical field are saying about it), I was hooked on the keto diet. And I feel good all the time as well. I lost all of my medical issues and now my annual check-ups are always great! I’ve been a keto fanatic for several years and since I like everything on the diet and I don’t like what is banned on it, I will keep this diet forever. I’m very happy with it. It gives me high energy and surprisingly, a great attitude every day!

FATtoVEGAN! !! says:

I do the opposite and eat carbs on a plant based diet and it seems to be working well and I feel really good! Keto flu sounds awful😥

Richard Evans says:

5000 grams of BOILED POTATO, EQUALS 4300 CALORIES, THAT 75% OF MY DIET, PLUS 1433 calories from other fruit & veg, a total of 5733 calories, so if thats treble my BMR nearly, HOW AM I LOSING WEIGHT SO FAST IF A CALORIE IS A CALORIE, you go and eat 6000 calories of an american diet for a couple years, and compare to the 6000 calories i eat, and exercise the same, with the same results, i don’t think so ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

PictureFit says:

Why are we SCREAMING?

Massiel Eve says:

so how people loses so much weight in a high carb vegan diet? i lost 12 pounds in a month and the energy is thru the roof!!!

Maddy Harvey says:

awesome, but I love my oatmeal with berries…and sweet potatoes. I definitely agree with keeping sugar low and making sure your carbs are slow realeasing.

antenn0 says:

are you asian canadian

Russel Keith says:

this may sound stupid but how do I know that i’m on the keto state?

William Rodriguez says:

I substituted rice in to my diet instead of pasta. I couldn’t figure out why I was losing weight. this explains it. lol

greg yance says:

So…. I can eat all the fat I want and as long as I don´t consume carbs I will loose fat right ?

PictureFit says:

Please leave all calories in vs calories out argument here. I’m more than happy to respond to people wanting a discussion about it. I know I might have been a bit harsh and negative in the past about approaching the topic, for which I apologize, but I also feel it’s only right for me to respond to everyone else fairly and respectfully moving forward.

PictureFit says:

Running Gambit For athletes that compete in sports that have a large anaerobic focus (quick burst high intensity, e.g Oly lifting, sprinting, etc), I would recommend a diet with more carbs.

Running Gambit says:

Thanks for the response! What about middle distance athletes (800m-6000m) it seems to fall in between, would this be a suitable diet or do you know a better diet that would suit me? Thanks again.

Logic central says:

It’s no good for athletes period. It’s an unhealthy dieting tool with a large potential for abuse. And a myriad of short term and long term risks. About the only thing positive I can say about it is that you will lose weight on this diet. It’s guaranteed. Not all fat though, you will lose body composition too as your body eats itself. Steroids dampen that effect. Steroid users get away with more in their diets when it comes to composition. Steroids are great for that. Natural lifters are better off not bulking and cutting at all.

Mark emark says:

PictureFit I don’t get how you can get your carbs down to 5% when even veggies have carbs in them. Do you stop eating breads and vegetables? And if you’re eating 70% fat aren’t you going to clog your arteries and have a heart attack?

G MOney says:

A “calorie” is not a “calorie”, that’s like saying a leaf is a leaf, yet there is quite the difference between spinach and ella vera vs poison ivy and marijuana. Similarly 200 calories of Kale vs 200 calories of cotton candy are worlds apart in how the body processes & benefits from the 2. The focus on unbiased “calories” is why we have obesity a common place in all walks of today’s society.

PictureFit says:

We’re speaking in terms of weight loss. Do some macronutrients require more expenditure for breakdown? Certainly, such as protein, and that’s the reason thermic effect of food is considered in the equation for calorie expenditure.
We have an obesity problem because of overconsumption. Since carbs are much more simple to consume in high amounts, calorie consumption goes up as well. You can avoid obesity by avoiding overconsumption.

G MOney says:

PictureFit still the fact is present that calories are burned differently depending on the chemistry of the host, chemistry is highly affected by the carrier of the said calories, if the carrier is lousy, processing will be as well. There are junk/lousy calories and healthy ones. I will even remove the system’s effort of fiber this time: again juice kale to equate 3000 calories (over consumption) worth of liquid and then liquefy 1800 calories (under consumption) of pure white sugar. Feed the 2 separately to 2 different men & you tell me who loses weight by the end of a week’s time.

PictureFit says:

This is a common mistake people make when considering a “healthy” calorie choice versus an “unhealthy” calorie choice. Painting a strawman figure won’t change the fact that 3000 calories in kale juice is *a lot* of juice. If you manage to consume 3000 calories of kale juice and your daily expenditure is 2000, you will certainly gain weight. All studies indicating that, regardless of different food types and macronutrients, weight change corresponds to caloric differences.

Here’s a list of articles that goes into this in more detail. You’re free to check them out and let me know what you think: (The effect of TEF)

Calorie equated meal frequency meta-analysis (important takeaway is lack of weight differences when calories were the same across studies)

G MOney says:

PictureFit even entertaining the notion that over consumption is a problem, bc yes I’ll agree that is a huge factor, and that subject 1 does gain weight off of the large amount of kale – unarguably subject 2 still will gain more weight “calorie for calorie” thus the obvious difference between calorie types (not being the same) with the added factor of one of these calorie types having the subject unsatisfied and desirous of your stated notion to over consumption, along with fatigue with hormonal imbalance, climaxing/dominoing to further causes & effects of obesity.

PictureFit says:

I agree with the unsastified statement. No doubt that low-carb, especially when replacing simple sugars, will be beneficial for weight loss for those that seek satiety.

TURBO Pepper says:

I’m in day 6 and boy do I feel fucking amazing.
life changing diet life style

Jacob Barnhart says:

Ketogenic is typically a very meat heavy diet. If you are vegetarian it would be very difficult and most people would not be able to make it very far constricting both animal products AND carbs. In fact many vegetarian diets are actually much higher in carbs due to the person on the vegetarian diet believing it’s still healthier than a conventional diet. Not trying to start anything against vegetarians, but this is just what I’ve seen over the years with my clients. I realize your question was 2 weeks ago, but maybe you’re still looking into this. Bottom line, vegetarian + keto is probably not a great idea.

TURBO Pepper says:

+Jacob Barnhart I see u got some muscles. I quit kwto to put on lean muscle. Do u think kwto is good did gains? I was losing too much weight on keto from fat water and muscle. My body is knocked out of keto but I’m not getting fat from all the lovely carbs I’m eating. Did u get gains with keto or just use keto to shred?

Jacob Barnhart says:

I’ve personally never done keto myself. I don’t see a whole lot of good that can come from a 70% fat diet. That being said, I am always looking to have my opinions changed so I will be trying keto soon to see what the results may be. Even though I don’t completely agree with it, I’m not one to shun something without my own personal experience being in play.

Many people swear by keto for gaining muscle and as is the same with everything in fitness, it will work better for some people but not for others. It’s up to you to see what works best for you. That being said, I think a higher carbohydrates diet is best for building muscle in most people.

Marvin Marv says:

TURBO Pepper can you share your diet routine?

TURBO Pepper says:

+Marvin Marv I don’t recommend keto unless your morbidly obese and need to reach a certain weight or your a lifter or athlete and want to cut to reach a short term goal.
Resistance training, coupled with fasted hiit cardio in mornings along with good diet and sleep is working better for overall weight and muscle goal

Greynerd says:

I’ve noticed that everyone who gets to Ketogenisis remark on the mental clarity they experience. I’ve noticed how vocal some fanatical vegans are and wonder if they lack mental clarity or suffer from ‘mental fog’.

asmrfoodieuk says:

Greynerd what about vegan ketos?

Greynerd says:

No such thing. they are on a highly restrictive diet with supplements to cater for the deficiencies

KingOfKings says:

Another great thing about this diet, is it severely blunts your appetite after about a week if you are following it correctly.

PlantIt Fitness says:

Yes it does.

Ashly Høward says:

I switched to a Keto diet July 1st and I have since then lost 40lbs. Carbs controlled my life back then. Lol, I can’t imagine going back to lots of carbs.

Daniel Pincus says:

Kittenpurrrs whenLoved says:

Daniel Pincus I was just commenting cuz u said 8 weeks in and you no longer lust over them foods … so I was talking back to you …saying I felt that too and telling u about myself and how eating this way helped me……. lol…. sorry…

Daniel Pincus says:

I was agreeing with you. Willpower is not the issue; the brain chemistry explains it. The addiction to carbs is real, and CAN be solved. The only issue of willpower, to me, is deciding that it’s time for a change.

Kittenpurrrs whenLoved says:

+Daniel Pincus ohhh I thought the question marks were you thinking why did I say all that hahhaa …. yes I see that carb addiction sure is real…. I swear even when I was full I would have a peice of cake and could prob eat the entire cake …just wanting more and more …. and then a few hrs later be baking another one cuz I just crave it so bad. It was awful and I just couldn’t get control of myself. I have never been addicted to anything in my life …even the pain meds I’ve been on for many years …but sugar n carbs …wow… I just couldn’t stop myself ..yet I hated myself ..couldn’t even look in the mirror or want my picture taken…..then I got sent to a Dr that put me on this diet …sent me to a few courses to learn and like you said …..I decided its time for change. and I stuck thru it the first week and never looked back. I am even kind of scared to touch anything that will make me crave again…I guess it is like any addiction and u just know I have to stay away?

CR3ATUR3 says:

Intermittent fasting is what i like to do more. Why is everyone saying it’s unhealthy because it burns muscle. In 16 hour window, no. Well yeah if you don’t eat for 4 days…then obviously but who the hell does that?!

Alaskan Cannon says:

I could be wrong but doesn’t ketosis send your kidneys into overdrive, causing very frequent urination and severe dehydration over time?

Prestomydo2 says:

Fair enough. it’s not for everyone, you really do have to suck down water like nobody’s business, however it’s a little easier since no sodas means water is pretty much all you drink

Alaskan Cannon says:

Iv been doing intermittent fasting and that seems to be the best one yet for me. I also don’t drink soda anyway haha.

KingOfKings says:

When Im in ketosis I find it very hard to retain water, no matter how much I drink. An intense workout will cause muscle spasms for me. Upping my sodium intake seems to help.

mj peter says:

Then keep doing what makes YOU happy… I’m sure 2 gallons of water is too much but a Big Gulp from 7-11…Hmm…

Richard Rice says:

I would suggest you take a look at ketoacidosis. This is the extreme end of the scale, when the amount of ketones reaches more than around 100 mmol/L. A standard keto diet will have you sat around 5 mmol/L which is safe 🙂

unknown says:

my grandparents have been on the keto diet (eating high fat animal proteins and dairy) for about 30 years and now theyre both diabetic and have colitis lmao

dat Kush says:

could be genetics

Blurb says:

Adrena Sport that’s weird. I never knew vegans were immortal

Alessandro I says:

animal products are very acidic for the body… fish is the healthiest option out there.

Roy W says:

Eggs are not acidic.. Processed meats, and a lot of fruits tend to be the worst for acid sensitivity.

Max Cherry says:

I don’t care about losing weight and have no intention on doing so… but day 3 of eating no carbs and I feel awesome. Even with a cold I’ve more energy than I did before. Mackeral turns out to be pretty much a perfect food. 😀

Chicken Strangler says:

Max Cherry
Should I get Cherry MX Brown switches or Cherry MX Blue switches (looking for a keyboard)? I assume you’d know, Max Cherry.

EnuFFax | CS:GO says:

+Chicken Strangler …? where did that come from?

Max Cherry says:

+Chicken Strangler This is more of a mackerel appreciation comment section but sure i can try help. I’d go with the multicoloured one. They seem expensive for keyboards but that one looks really cool.

Chicken Strangler says:

+Max Cherry I think I’ll go with the browns.

Katy Smith says:

Here is a great diet plan that will help you lose weight fast – HootFat. com

Isabella H says:

Or just go vegan and you won’t even have to work out to loose weight.

imrandma says:

+Ssj2590 I know many meat eaters who are unhealthy.

Ssj2590 says:

imrandma what’s your point?

imrandma says:

+Ssj2590 What was your point “I know many Vegan’s who are unhealthy”?

Baibars Al Fatih says:

Cannot be more wrong! it’s not calorie in calorie out scheme that makes you fat. It is raise in insulin levels that makes you fat. So if you cut carbs, you will control insulin therefore control your body weight. No matter how much fat you eat, it will not make you fat for this reason.

Steve CVNT Niko says:

Εσσένια Γεια fvckoff back in the kitchen CVNT AND calories are all bullshit ok.., go try the keto diet I eat over 4k calories a day and I can’t put any weight on and as soon as I do my old carb diet if I go past 2500calories a day. I blow up like a blow up doll.

calories are all bullshit and the media is just brainwashing you all.
Go watch the whole documentary ‘FED UP 2014’ on YouTube and fvcken wake up.

Εσσένια Γεια says:

”calories are all bullshit” Seems like you never heard of the laws of thermodynamics. Not worth talking with people who don’t know ELEMENTARY SCHOOL SCIENCE.

Kay Laz says:

Another triggered moron using personal anecdotal” evidence”.. If the keto diet works for you, then great! You dont need to go all butt hurt when someone critisizes it

marsha okhiria says:

if a diet helped me lose weight why is it not valuable information? counting calories works for me and hundreds of people. you cant just push that facts aside. If your body has a high amount of calories, glucose for example, where is it gonna put the excess? you will say, convert it to glucogen and store in liver. so what if it cannot store anymore glycogen? Then it will be converted to fats and be stored in adipose tissue. If you can keep your calories within range I believe you will be fine. On the other hand, you have to be careful of what you eat. You dont want to eat a particular nutrient in excess. because excess carbs, proteins, and fats are stored in adipose tissue…thats what we are trying to avoid.
