Just received the book today and oh my gosh, I find that I cannot put it down! The book is so much more than a cookbook, it is a wealth of information which will no doubt help a lot of people, especially those that are just starting out on this journey. It actually explains the science behind this way of eating, and includes a meal plan which will be especially helpful to those of us that sometimes get overwhelmed.

I received my (full-price) copy yesterday, and I am halfway through it already. I have other books by Maria Emmerich, and they are all good, but this is her best by far. I’m NOT a good cook – in fact I dislike it – but these recipes are simple, only require a few ingredients and FAST. I came to the recipe for Cheese Puffs and ran into the kitchen and cooked a few for a quick snack. 45 seconds later, done and done! Yummy.

Just started eating the keto way of eating Jan. 16, 2017. I lost 6 pounds in four days and I’ve never felt better. I have more energy and can think clearly, and my sinuses are not nearly as bad this early Spring 2017. I’m amazed. This is definitely a way of eating for life because a return to carbs will not only make me gain the weight back, but also feel poorly.

I have had this cookbook for about a month. I started eating ketogenic about three months ago. It was a struggle, and I wasn’t sure if I could stick with it. I bought Maria’s book and have used it just about everyday for a month. Every recipe is easy to follow, and I have yet to make anything inedible. I love the slow cooker recipes, and always make a double or triple batch and freeze the extra batches for quick meals later. She lists substitutions to make many of the recipes dairy free or vegetarian (although I stick with her original recipes because I am neither). She goes into detail about the foods she uses, what you should eat and what you should avoid, and what to keep in your fridge, freezer, and pantry. She has meal plans too. I can’t say enough good things about this book. I have bought it and sent it to a few other people. But the best review is probably the fact that after just a month, this cookbook is ear-marked, post-it tabbed, grease splattered, and never gets put away on the shelf because there is no point. It has a proud, permanent home on my counter, wedged between my knife block and the wall. I highly recommend to anyone – ketogenic, Paleo, or just looking for great new recipes. I LOVE this cookbook.

I’ve been reading through this beautiful cookbook all day & am just amazed at all the information, explanations, tips, guidelines, a 7 day & a 30 day keto meal plan with shopping lists & all the wonderful recipes included! It’s all in here to succeed (& maintain!). I dont think I could’ve asked for anything more!?! I love it! It’s obvious that it took a lot of time & care to create this kind of quality. You won’t be dissapointed!! I’ve learned so much, its time to start & see (& feel!) results! KETO ON!!!

I personally really like this cookbook. The biggest pro is that the recipes are simple enough for even kitchen challenged people to follow, and the gorgeous photos really make your mouth water. I especially like the easy crockpot recipes (BBQ Port Wraps, Chimichurri Chicken, etc.), and the dishes come out tender and tasty with exotic flares. You absolutely must try the Zucchini Tortillas (photo) – I made it half/half with good quality sharp cheddar and parm cheese, and they were amazing. My husband loved the Prosciutto and Arugula Roll-Ups. The recipes are so easy, you can’t help but be motivated to try them and because of that, I sent out a few books as gifts. However, my husband really didn’t like the desserts I made despite using the best possible ingredients (Fudgy brownie, fat bombs, etc), and said he’ll never try them again. For me, I appreciate the interesting recipes because they allow me options that I can’t otherwise enjoy while in ketosis, but I must say they weren’t particularly tasty and I generally avoid using artificial sweeteners out of concern. One exception is the Chocolate Breakfast Custard, which tastes just like a chocolate pudding and my husband didn’t complain about it. In addition, you might want to be more conservative when trying some of the exotic spices for people with a more limited palette. For an example, when I made the sauerkraut, I really should’ve left out the caraway seeds and now I have to finish the entire batch by myself. Regardless, I really like how creative the recipes are, and I’ve been recommending the resourceful ketogenic cookbook to practically everyone I know.

At the time of this writing I am currently on the 30 day dairy free meal plan from the book. I do wish they had offered shopping list for the 30 day DF plan but they do not. I guess that is why you purchase meal plans from her website (although the meals in this book have been better than the meals in her meal plan through her website, in my opinion). They do not offer shopping lists for either of the 30 day meal plans in the book, only the 7 day plans for weightloss/heal & 7 day maintenance. There is no 7 day dairy free meal plan. However, the 7 day plans seem to be a bit of a waste, because one day may call for an item that has 4 servings, but you might not repeat that item again for any of the 7 days, and other items may be a serving of 1. So if it’s just for you then you’ll have to pare down the recipes for 1, or either plan to freeze a lot. So that’s sort of a bummer.

I’m in love with this cookbook! I’ve been collecting low carb cookbooks for over a decade and Ketogenic Cooking by Maria Emmerich outshines them all! I’ve been a fan of Maria for over five years and have tried many of her recipes that she provides on her Keto Adapted website. She provide a lot of basic information to help those getting started on this way of eating and provides ways to make this transition easy for you. In addition to the more than 170 recipes in the book, there are useful tips and meal plans that come with shopping lists to make the ketogenic diet so simple for anyone. Many recipes are available for those with common allergies to nuts, dairy, and eggs. There’s even recipes suitable for vegetarians! I like that the macros are provided for each recipe as well as a keto meter to show how it rates. If you are on maintenance, the low keto recipes are fine, but those wishing to initiate fat burning are better staying with the high keto recipes. I’ve already made the skillet lasagna recipe and it was so quick and easy to prepare! My whole family loved it and it’s a recipe that doesn’t take much to prepare. If you trying to fit a ketogenic into your busy lifestyle, you NEED this cookbook! You can easily follow this healthy way of eating with these time saving recipes.

Best book of Maria’s so far!

To say I am a fan of Maria’s is an understatement. I did not find out about the ketogenic diet through her- what I did find through was ketogenic LIVING. She took these principles I had read about and through her recipes turned them into mouthwatering, unbelievable dishes that made the transition to a ketogenic way of living a breeze. I have all of her other cookbooks, but as a mom to two young boys and a military spouse this one has to be the best EVER! It meets my youngest son’s dairy free needs, my eldest son’s nut free needs, and has wonderful vegetarian options that are refreshing and fantastic! I bought the physical copy of the book but was so excited I couldn’t wait the two days and ended up also buying the kindle book and I am SO glad I did! We paired the coffee ice cream in this cookbook with dinner last night and it was divine!!! 10/10 would recommend!
